Is Compact Laminate Waterproof?

Compact laminate is a man-made material that is 100% waterproof and moisture resistant. Its fantastic strength and waterproof characteristics are why you will so often see compact laminate in sports centres and wet areas.

At Duraplan we use compact laminate panels in the vast majority of our bathroom fit-outs, to ensure that our bathroom designs are not only sophisticated looking but also durable and fit-for-purpose.

Our compact laminate decorative wall panels are an NZ favourite for high-quality commercial bathrooms.

So, what else is important to know about compact laminate?

Compact Laminate is an Innovative Material

Compact laminate has a contemporary and clean finish capable of withstanding moist environments and daily use.

Compact laminate is made from layers of paper that are tightly bound together with resin. The stacked layers are compressed under high pressure and heated until they permanently meld and form an incredibly hard and impact-resistant surface. Compact laminate panels can be made in varying thicknesses between 3 and 18mm and finished in a wide variety of colours and textures.

Compact Laminate Has Many Benefits

Compact laminate doesn’t just offer attractive, strong, and varied wall panelling options; compact laminate can be used to create freestanding toilet cubicles and hygienic wet areas, among many more benefits, including:

  • Versatile design qualities
  • Extensive colour options
  • Water resistant
  • Easy to clean
  • Fade resistant
  • Graffiti resistant
  • UV resistant
  • High impact resistant
  • Suitable for regular use and high traffic areas
  • Capable of withstanding most solvents, acids and corrosives
  • Hypoallergenic characteristics
  • Heat and frost resistant
